Happy 5-Reps Friday!

First, here's what's new on the Obvious Choice Podcast these past two weeks. Please click to listen:

131: 10k+ Months - Time to Hire (Hot Seat)

132: The Biggest Fan Theory

133: Beware of Reckless Ambition

Moving on, here are 2 coaching concepts, 2 business nuggets, and a quote to consider this week.

2 Coaching Concepts

1.

Question:

If a vegan CrossFitter meditates in a bucket of ice and has an affiliate code for Athletic Greens, which one do they talk about first?

Answer:

Their morning routine.

2.

Trying to get sore isn't the goal of training and it also isn't necessary.

It occurs when you do something new.

Soreness can be a byproduct of hard work but isn't required to get results.

Bad rest, dehydration, and poor nutrition also contribute.

2 Business Nuggets

1.

Joy is not an objective emotion. It is best felt when preceded by hardship. Experience enriches. The best lives are the ones that include struggle and strife. In order to love, you must hurt. In order to feel joy, you must feel pain. This necessary juxtaposition in experience is often missing in our too-easy lives.

2.

We often don’t have a problem with authenticity. We have a problem trusting that our authentic self is enough.

1 Quote to Consider

“Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone,” he told me, “just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.”

- F. Scott Fitzgerald (from The Great Gatsby)

Turned 38. What a weird and completely inconsequential birthday. We need to change the birthday celebration rules. Here's what I suggest: You get to celebrate all birthdays until you're 16. Then you get to celebrate the 5's and 0's until you're 70. Once you're 70, you can celebrate each one again. Oh, and I did eat a taco last week. There's a new spot by my house. It was wonderful. Anyway, have a good day!

P.S. Nothing but respect

Alright, so here's the deal.

Mariah Carey makes over $2 million a year in royalties from "All I Want this Christmas is You."

You don't.

But hey, at least you get free professional coaching software.

A distant second place, I admit. But at least it's something.
