Happy 5-Reps Friday!

The Obvious Choice podcast is on fire! Amber said that episode 66 is the best so far. I agree with her. Here are links to this past week's episodes:

Episode 66: Choosing What The F*** You Should Be Doing
Episode 67: The 'Ghost' Behind Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tim Ferris

Moving on, here are 2 coaching concepts, 2 business nuggets, and a quote to consider this week.

2 Coaching Concepts

1.

Don’t make a plan for good days.

Because then when a bad day happens again, you’ll stop.

The best time to make a plan is when times are bad.

Learning how to do it when time’s are tough means you’ll stick with it over the long haul.

--

2.

The people who have the best bodies are the people who do the basic things that you know you should do.

They don't do fancy things and almost always ignore hacks and fads. Instead, they execute relentlessly on the boring, basic stuff.

2 Business Nuggets

1.

Never describe anything you do unless you include a 'so that' statement why a client should care.

If you want to make an impact, you must make the mundane meaningful to your client.

'So what' versus 'so that'

--

2.

There’s two ways to become The Obvious Choice and both are extensions of trust:

  1. Have a real life connection with a person.
  2. Share a nerdy obsession with a person.

The first is the easiest. We trust people we’ve met more than people we’ve never met. And we trust people who others we’ve met vouch for. Despite prevailing wisdom, the easiest and fastest way to build any business is through word of mouth, usually begins local, and sometimes extends online from there.

The second way is the fastest, the easiest, and the only guaranteed way to make this work online.

1 Quote to Consider

" You have one competitive advantage online: You’re unique and special and weird. We all are. The sooner you lean into it––the sooner you let your geek flag fly––the sooner you’ll stand out."

Introducing Unbound Merino

I'm proud to announce that my favourite clothing company has become the official sponsor of these 5 Reps Friday emails.

Most days Unbound makes up my entire wardrobe but what I really want to tell you about is my one shirt – the black v-neck.

It's made of merino wool which sits on my shoulders well and doesn't ever smell (seriously). I also love that it's a plain color t-shirt. No ugly logos.

No joke, I have 12 of them. It's all that I wear.

If you're looking for a comfortable, moisture wicking, good-looking shirt, Unbound Merino gets my highest recommendation. I've worn their clothing almost every day for four years.

Go to www.unboundmerino.com and use coupon code 'GOODMAN' to get 10% off of your first order.

This is the long-sleeve merino crew, my second favourite shirt.
