Here are a few short thoughts this week.

"The only part about what you do that matters is what matters to other people who aren’t you."
-From The Obvious Choice: Timeless Lessons on Success, Profit, and Finding Your Way
2
"The simple and commonplace, due to their ordinary nature, are almost always reduced in importance and misplaced."
-Dave Draper

"The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining."
-John F. Kennedy

Been enjoying my new workout program. Modelled it off of Dave Draper's programming. Real golden-age bodybuilding stuff. Thought I'd share some bits from it.
-5 workouts. Ideally 3 days on, one off, 2 on, one off.
-Begins with ten minutes of midsection as a warmup. I love this. Have always struggled to fit in core into a program.
-Almost all superset / trisets
Workout 1: Chest/back
Workout 2: Legs
Workout 3: Arms
Workout 4: Upper body
Workout 5: Legs
An example program. This is the chest/back. (I'm using QuickCoach to build my programs and track.)

Relationships

"Joy tends to involve some transcendence of self. It’s when the skin barrier between you and some other person or entity fades away and you feel fused together. Joy is present when mother and baby are gazing adoringly into each other’s eyes, when a hiker is overwhelmed by beauty in the woods and feels at one with nature, when a gaggle of friends are dancing deliriously in unison. Joy often involves self-forgetting."
-David Brooks from The Second Mountain
Hope you're good!

A few things or people I like and recommend

My friend Arthur C. Brooks just wrote a book called The Meaning of Your Life. He's hosting a huge remote launch party and I wanted to send you an invite. It's free and on March 27th. He’ll be joined by Rainn Wilson (Dwight Shrute!), Simon Sinek, Maria Shriver, and many more to explore the crisis of meaning—and a path toward real purpose, a life fully alive.
For more information and to register, go to themeaningofyourlife.com.

Another one of my friend's Nir Eyal had a book come out this week and I want you to buy it. (I’ve already bought 50 copies.)
Back in May of last year, Nir asked me to review the book and provide suggestions how it could appeal more to coaches. I sent back a few. But mostly just told him how great it is. Belief is fascinating and under appreciated. Until now.
Get more info and buy your copy on Amazon, or wherever you buy books.
My book got another 1-star review

And honestly, it’s accurate.
I’m not a researcher. I’m an explorer.
You see, there’s three types of non-fiction authors:
1. Translators
They take research and translate it for the masses. Malcolm Gladwell, Adam Grant, Corinne Low, etc.
2. Experiential Journalists
They use an adventure to tell the story of the research. Michael Easter, Cheryl Strayed, etc.
3. Explorers
They do a lot and stumble upon success in an area. Then they make sense of it, figure out what happened, identify a theme, and teach what they learned.
—
If you want another book sharing the same research again and again and again because it makes you feel good to read what you already know but haven’t yet acted upon, Unhinged Habits isn’t for you.
I’m an explorer.
^^That means that I accept nothing as fact. Instead, I’m constantly experimenting living different ways and in different places.
And I’ll tell you honestly what I’ve learned and what feels good.
Some you won’t agree with. Some will challenge your bad habits in ways that make you uncomfortable. And some could change your life. Some has changed mine. That’s for sure.
Unhinged Habits is different. Not what you expect. I hope you give it a chance.
You can buy it anywhere you get books. Here's a few links:
