The episode: 3: “How to Get Clients” with Alex Harriman
A full-time firefighter and part-time coach, Alex Harriman loved his work but wished to spend more time at home with his newborn son. The solution? Online training. (Of course!)
Still, one problem remained: Alex needed clients.
He knew engaging people on social media could do the trick. So he started jotting down fitness and nutrition questions from friends and coworkers—easy fodder for new posts.
When people comment or like a post, Alex reaches out to them. If they’re interested, great. If not, their names go on a list so Alex can follow up with them again later.
“Sometimes people are on the fence about it,” he says, “and that extra little message pushes them to get the ball rolling.”
The best part? Each post takes Alex only about 30 minutes, leaving even more time for him to spend with his wife and two-year-old son.
“That’s everything,” he says. “That’s what freedom is… time with family.”
