The episode: 7: “The Daily Ritual” with Leslie Snyder
Leslie Snyder was determined to get her three kids through college debt-free. But she had no savings plan, and her oldest was graduating from high school, like, now.
“We didn’t have a dime saved for it,” Leslie says. “I was like, okay, now’s the time to jump.” She left the corporate fitness world and started her own coaching business, split 50-50 between in-person and online.
“The business is the college plan,” she says. That meant no room for failure. So she enrolled in the Online Trainer Academy to learn the secrets of success.
She learned that adopting strong daily rituals would help her navigate the adjustment. Here are four that work for her:
- Block scheduling, dividing her day into dedicated blocks of time for training sessions, workouts, content creation, email, and creative thinking.
- A physical transition between each activity—moving to a different location helps her mentally switch gears.
- Lists! Leslie jots down three things she wants to accomplish each day.
- Writing down her thoughts. Leslie uses giant Post-its on her wall (or what her husband calls “the $32 wallpaper”).
Now four years later, her “college plan” is working. She just paid the final bill for her oldest daughter’s tuition. One down, two to go!
“My girls are super proud,” Leslie says. “Occasionally I’ll get ‘Mama is a rock star.’”
Listen to this episode to learn more about how Leslie uses these habits to stay on point and drive a successful business.
