The episode: 2: “What Would This Look Like If It Were Easy?” with Ray Graber
Ray Graber had been a fitness coach for 10 years. But when a chronic illness left him bedridden, he had to find a way to work from home. So he switched to online training.
But even though he attracted plenty of online clients, Ray was not happy. He was overwhelmed by the many startup tasks and struggled to learn new tech. Most of all, he missed the connection he’d felt working with in-person clients.
“I had sapped all the fun out of it,” he says. “I wasn’t interacting with people or having a good time… I was frustrated. I was ready to quit.”
Desperate, Ray asked the OTA for help. The response he got was a simple question: “What would this look like if it were easy?”
With that in mind, Ray sought to simplify his operation.
He spent two weeks reaching out to clients and listening to their needs. Ultimately, he said goodbye to three-quarters of them, offering premium service to a select few and raising his prices accordingly. (He now charges between $250 and $1,000 a month.)
By focusing on the clients who need him most, Ray keeps his workload manageable and finds more satisfaction in his job.
What would “easy” look like for you? Listen to find out how Ray kept his dream career by adjusting it to fit his needs and lifestyle.
