Can you gain weight from eating too little? No, but here’s why it’s so easy to think you can -- Brian St. Pierre, Precision Nutrition

Clients, trainers, and nutritionists alike continue to fascinate me with this one. They'll seem get it... but then make it obvious they don't.

They'll say: "Right, I understand that calories determine your weight..." and I'll think they understand.

And then: "...but obviously if I'm eating 1500 calories of junk instead of healthy food, my weight will be different."

Or: "but I think the real problem is that I eat late at night."

Or the absolute worst: "... but I'm telling you I barely eat anything and I'm not losing weight, I think I'm actually not eating enough."

The next time you encounter a trainer, client, or anyone who doesn't understand the first law of thermodynamics, please send them this article. The more we educate, the better equipped people will be to take control of their own health and fitness.
